Model Strategic Plan For Fire Hazard Reduction

The RC&D Council held their annual Earth Day and Earth Team celebration on April 19th in Wytheville.  Six Earth Team Volunteers assisted the local conservation team by planting 6 pine seedlings at the Wytheville USDA Service Center. They also planted 25 seedlings into pots, these trees will be housed at
the service center for the next year then used next spring for conservation practices. 

Groups represented at the Earth Team Day event included , Big Walker Soil & Water Conservation District, New River Valley Planning District Commission, Wythe County, Smyth County, Montgomery County, Mount Rogers Planning
District Commission,  Natural Resources
Conservation Service and New River-Highlands RC&D Council.

 The volunteers of the NRCS Earth Team were
treated to a lunch at the Wytheville USDA Service Center upon completion of the tree planting and
were awarded certificates for the past year’s
volunteer efforts.
